ABOUT

Experience true tea tranquillity

Mui Té imports high quality Ceylon tea from Sri Lanka. Our mission is to make high quality tea affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy a good cup of tea, and our goal is to provide an elevated tea experience by providing fresh, new and unique blends that can be enjoyed by everyone. Whether you're a first-time tea drinker, an experienced connoisseur or just looking for something different, Mui Té has something special for you. Our online store also offers a variety of different subscriptions, so you can always have fresh, delicious tea delivered right to your door, without the hassle of ordering again and again.

What does Mui Té mean?

First and foremost, Erandika, one of our co-founders, is called Mui by her family. Mui means peacock in sanscrit and later, we also realised that, in Malay, Mui is part of the full word for ‘Discover’: menemui, making it an even more appropriate name for a company that is trying to encourage customers to discover and try new types and flavours of teas. Té simply means tea in multiple languages, including Erandika’s mother tongue: Tamil.

What does our peacock logo mean?

We started as a tea company, selling, exclusively, Sri Lankan tea; peacocks are generally associated with Sri Lanka as they can be found in abundance there, and tea, as their feathers look similar to tea leaves. In addition, peacocks represent elegance, pride, love, luxury, and nobility - and we feel that such traits are also a great representation of the value we try to deliver every day at Mui Té.

Sustainability

We take pride in the fact that our tea is grown, handpicked and ethically manufactured in Sri Lanka. The country has a long and rich history of tea production, and its teas are among the finest in the world. Mui Té's Ceylon teas are no exception.

Our tea packaging is made from paper, with as little plastic as possible. Our postal bags are made from recyclable plastic, as we have to make sure they don't get wet inside.

When it comes to Mui Té, we take our environmental footprint seriously. We are committed to doing our part to protect the planet, and that includes reducing our impact on the environment.

We are committed to being sustainable, and it starts with our supplier's emissions. We account for their emissions from the moment the tea leaves are grown until they leave the company premises and reach ports in all of our overseas markets. This has been recognised by organisations such as United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Sri Lanka Climate Fund through Carbon Neutral Certification.

We believe that every little action counts when it comes to saving our planet, which is why we'd try to do better and be more sustainable in everything we do.
